THE MOMENTLOG FIELD GUIDE
How to Keep a Shared Family Video Journal
A family can keep a shared video journal in a MomentLog Team Project. Each relative requests to join using the Team ID. Once approved, they can share entries in the project and watch each other’s updates. Joining does not share anyone’s personal diary.
Give everyone the same small prompt
For a family living apart, try “What could we hear at your kitchen table this Sunday?” One household might record the rain on the window; another might explain why breakfast is running an hour late. A shared question gives relatives something to respond to without needing everyone on a call.
In Interstellar, Tom introduces his baby to Cooper by video. A discussion about Cooper’s messages picks up on a small detail: Cooper smiles and waves at a recording. For a relative who cannot be there today, try addressing them by name and introducing someone or something in the room. That gives them a moment to respond to when they watch.
Choose who will see the entries
In MomentLog, use a Team Project for the family’s shared entries. The owner gives relatives the Team ID; each person requests to join and the owner approves them. Check who belongs to the team before recording: a project for a family story is shared with approved team members, not just the one relative you have in mind.
Separate family updates from your own diary
Choose the shared project as your current project before recording a family update. Select a personal project again before recording something just for yourself. Joining a team does not share your existing personal journal. Members with access can view and download shared recordings, so agree on what everyone is comfortable including.
