THE MOMENTLOG FIELD GUIDE
How to Make a Sci-Fi Video Log on iPhone
To make a sci-fi video log on your iPhone, film one observation, say what changed, and save the entry. In MomentLog, you can export a separate copy with a heads-up display (HUD) for the field-report look. The original recording stays in your archive.
Start with something worth reporting
In Avatar, Jake Sully sits down to tell the camera what he has learned on Pandora. When a fan asked how to make a video log like Jake’s, someone suggested using the phone camera. The fan clarified that what they wanted was the on-screen template that made the recording feel like an RDA file.
You can borrow two things separately: the habit of reporting an observation, and the look of the frame around it. Start with the observation. Pick one thing you noticed that a camera alone would miss. A kitchen windowsill or a bus stop gives you as much to report as an imaginary outpost.
Example entry
“Day four at the kitchen window. The basil nearest the glass came up first. Tomorrow I’ll turn the pot and see what changes.”
Record the observation before adding the HUD
On your iPhone, frame the thing you are watching, start a MomentLog recording and say where you are, what changed and what you will check next. Save the entry and play it back. If the picture shows the basil but you never said which pot sprouted first, add that detail to your next log.
Give the copy a sci-fi HUD
Export the entry with the MomentLog HUD if you want time and location context over the picture. The export is a separate video; your original stays in the archive. The overlay is MomentLog’s design. If what you want is the exact RDA graphic from the film, this export gives a different result.
